We’ll show you how to use a one handed keyboard on the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. This will help you use the larger iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus with one hand for more tasks.
Apple does not include any one handed iPhone keyboards in iOS 8 or iOS 8.1, but there are several options on the App Store that allow users to better use the new iPhones with one-hand. These keyboards also work on the iPhone 5s and other older phones, if you need a one handed keyboard for those devices as well.
The larger size of the iPhone 6 Plus makes a one handed keyboard more attractive. Many options in the App Store offer a Galaxy note 4 like one handed keyboard that you can shift to one side of the device.
Watch the short video below to see the iPhone 6 Plus one handed keyboard in action. There are many different iOS 8 one handed keyboards available, with prices from free to $2.
If you are using this on the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, you are already on iOS 8 or higher. If you want to use one of these on an older iPhone you need to make sure you are running iOS 8 or iOS 8.1.
The first thing to do is download an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus one handed keyboard from the App Store. Here are five iOS 8 one handed keyboard options available.
You can download any of these to the iPhone to get started. Here’s how to select the iOS 8 one handed keyboard after you download one of them. The process is the same as using any other iOS 8 keyboard.
Here’s how to install an iOS 8 keyboard.
Go to Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> Keyboards -> Add New Keyboard -> tap on the name of the keyboard.
After you do this, make sure you tap on the keyboard name again and enable full access. This allows the keyboard to deliver predictions and other features like changing the color of the keyboard. You can tap on the app icon on your home screen to see the options, like changing colors and other features.
When the keyboard is up, tap on the globe icon to change keyboards until the one handed iOS 8 keyboard shows up. When the keyboard appears you can tap the arrow to switch the side for the blank area, or in the case of some, the numbers.
When you want to go back to the other keyboard, tap the globe again. You will not be able to use dictation when using any third-party iOS 8 keyboards and when you enter a password iPhone will switch to a special keyboard, temporarily pushing you back to a more standard iPhone keyboard.
